Spontaneous DIY Saturday: No Statik racerback

Turn a regular t-shirt into a racerback tank. I bought this No Statik t-shirt at Chaos with many plans in mind for it. When I came back from my trip to Chaos, I didn't get to my project right away and my t-shirt just sat in different spots in the room.
I found this tutorial on BUST .
You can follow the steps here.
And here are my results.

Spontaneous DIY Saturday: S. Pellegrino to TANKCRIMES

I'm sure this has been done before somewhere else in the internet world of DIY projects, but I thought I'd share my take on this anyway.
I took an old S. Pellegrino bottle, washed off the label, and put a sticker on it to continue its use of hydrating me on a warm day.

I have multiples of these TANKCRIMES stickers at home. So if this bottle happens to break in the future, I can slap on another one of these bad boys and it's all good.

EAT/DRINK/WALK: AUSTIN, TX

If you're ever in Austin for any reason and are looking for things to do, places to eat and drink, check out these places in one of the raddest cities in the US.

The Jackalope: If you arrive in downtown Austin at around 5 pm, forget those food trucks you see scattered around the area because they are closed at that time! Go to The Jackalope after you check-in  to your hotel for a pulled pork sandwich, a beer, and some weird Japanese movies on the screen. They also have veggie options for those of you who don't eat meat.

The Hot Dog King: The truck is yellow, so it isn't hard to miss. Plus it's outside of a bar, so it's a great place to go after a long night of drinking, or in between all of the drinking. The veggie dog is their best one and all of their options are about $5 each.

Arlo's: Best. Damn. Vegan. Food. Ever. Just thinking about it now is making my mouth water.

Me So Hungry: It's located right next to Arlo's and they cater to meat-lovers and vegans alike.

Mohawk: This place was the first venue we went to for Chaos in Tejas and their layout is one of the craziest and most awesome ones I've seen. There are outdoor and indoor stages, 2 tiered balconies, a green room, and 3 bars.

Red7: We didn't know this place had an outdoor stage until after we missed one of the first bands of our first night in Austin. It has an indoor stage as well. Aside from some awkward moments with the staff there, it's still a worthwhile bar to check out. If you're looking for  Stoneys Beer this where you'll find it.

Cheer Up Charlie's:  The bar itself was about the size of my living room, but the outdoor area was expansive, they have an outdoor stage, a nice parachute for shade over their patio area and a ton of trees all over.

The Scoot Inn: It seemed like it was out in the middle of nowhere, but what do I know about the outskirts of downtown Austin? Another good example of utilizing what seems like an undesirable space and making it into something useful. They have a huge outdoor area, an outdoor stage, and a somewhat wider selection of beer there and the staff was really friendly.

Beerland: I didn't even look at the bar when I was there! So I'm not even really sure what their selection of beer is there. It's dark, cool, and in the women's restroom they have a cute cross-stitched sign that says "PLEASE DON'T DO COKE IN THE LADIES RESTROOM."

Club Deville: My least favorite of the venues we went to. Maybe it had to do with the fact that I wasn't really into any of the bands playing there. There's an outdoor stage, outdoor seating area, and an indoor bar.

Trailer Space Records: There were so many things to look at here: posters, arcade games, records, books, movies, more posters, action figures, the list goes on. It felt more like a place to hang out rather than just a regular record store. Plus, they have a public restroom. Take that, Rasputin Records!

Texas State Capitol Building: Probably one of the most massive buildings I've ever seen. You could see it when the plane is about to land, you can see it from miles away on the other side of downtown. This place is HUGE. They offer tours, but if you aren't the type to endure a tour (like Bearded Man and I) then a quick 5-minute stroll on a Sunday morning is enough for photos and touristy shit you do on vacation.

Even if you have been to Austin, but not to these places, check them out.

CHAOS IN TEJAS 2012

Chaos in Tejas 2012 line up
The weekend that I had long waited for finally came and went, and boy, was it something else (I mean this in a good way). I've been to music festivals before, but the Chaos in Tejas experience was about a million times better than....Coachella will ever be. The amount of punks from all over the place that came down upon Austin was huge. There was no shortage of people wearing black and vests in Austin's downtown area. Chaos in Tejas was one of the most amazing experiences: we met cool people, saw some familiar faces, ate really good vegan food, saw 54 bands in 4 days, and walked who knows how many miles to and from the venues underneath the hot, HOT Texas sun.
Usually I'll try to take as many photos as I can on my trips or outings, but taking a shit ton of photos of every little thing becomes more of a chore for me. These are the photos I took throughout my weekend in Austin, I was too busy walking, drinking warm Lone Star, and watching some really cool bands play.

Criaturas kicked off the weekend.

The 2 balconies at Mohawk were rad.

We saw Negative Standards 3 times and they were always good. This show was at Trailer Space, there were a ton of things to look at and felt more like a cool hang out spot than a record store.
Outside Trailer Space. It was cooler outside than it was inside.
Cheer Up Charlie's nice shade. You can't see it in this photo but it was the prettiest shade of light purple I've ever seen.

The Texas State Capitol building is a MASSIVE piece of architecture. And we didn't even know it was a block away from our hotel until we went on a beer and food run!
Probably one of my favorite things I saw during this trip: VESTS, VEST, VESTS!

Places we visited:
Jackalope
The Hot Dog King
Arlo's
Me So Hungry
Mohawk
Red 7
Cheer Up Charlie's
