Pre-Chaos weekend is coming to an end

Hope you guys have been having a wonderful 3-day weekend.
In three days, Bearded Man and I are heading out to Austin to check out CHAOS IN TEJAS, but first we had our pre-Chaos weekend that started on Thursday night.
This weekend included: a Crypt Keeper show at Thee Parkside on Thursday, an A's vs. Yankees game on Friday, a fun baby shower that didn't include weird baby shower games on Saturday, Day 4 of The GO! GO! show at The New Parish***on Sunday, and finally, a lazy Memorial Day Monday with some delicious food and a few naps here and there throughout the day.

***EDIT: Day 4 of The GO! GO! was at The New Parish in Oakland and not at The Uptown. Sorry for the confusion!

Spontaneous DIY Sunday

Today I decided to tie-dye one of my newest band t-shirts to the best of my ability. I've dyed clothes before, but had never done tie-dye because I considered that shit for the hippies. But seeing as this t-shirt was white and not black, I decided to do something different--very different! I had one box of navy dye left over from a few months back when I went a little dye-crazy and decided that it was the only color  I wanted to work with (also because I was too lazy to leave my house to buy a different color).
Tie-dye, and DIY itself, isn't supposed to be perfect no matter what results you see on DIY-whatever tutorials. My DIY projects are the worst example of great results. Nothing ever comes out the way I envision it, but I still wear all of my DIY projects gone bad. I'm wearing a pair of dark purple jeans that were supposed to turn out black but never did as I type this! If you don't like something and want to change it, do it. If it doesn't turn out the way you wanted it to, who the fuck cares? OWN IT! So, here it is: my first attempt at tie-dye. I'm the only one now with a CRYPT KEEPER tie-dye tank top, unless there is someone out there with one too. I'd like to see!
BEFORE
The materials on hand.

I forgot to wear gloves and I'll be sporting purple hands for the next week. Also, excuse the mess, we're in the process of cleaning out a bunch of junk from our backyard.

La Pulga de San Jose

There's a moment in everyone's lives where something from your childhood is completely killed. The imminent closure of La Pulga is my childhood memory-killing moment. Every memory I have of  Sundays at La Pulga with my family will soon be replaced with BART tracks. So, while it's good that BART is finally going to be accessible to San Jose, it's also bad because of hundreds of vendors will be displaced and my childhood  (and a lot of other people's childhoods) is being crushed. A double-edged sword, indeed.

Weird stuff: Trolls

Clearly, this isn't the weirdest shit you could find at a flea market, but I really did laugh out loud as soon as I saw these. What a weird toy and I loved all the Trolls I had as a kid.

Wolflina La Loba

The concept of it sort of came up in a dream I'd had a few months earlier. An animal-headed human holding a slingshot. Then when I thought about it again, it became a wolf-headed woman holding a slingshot.
I went back to Josh, who'd tattooed me back in November. This time around I got tattooed at his new shop in San Jose, Hurtswell Tattoo Company.  The result is amazing:
Josh did a great job of making my weird dream come to life. It looks better than what I had envisioned.  I don't know how I can top this tattoo. Is this my last tattoo? Who knows what my dreams hold in the future, but I have some weird dreams.
If you live in the Bay Area or are willing to travel miles and miles for a good tattoo, I suggest checking out the guys at Hurtswell Tattoo Company.

Lulu the Orchid

Yes, I gave a plant a name. But it was on accident and it stuck.
What had been a miscommunication of words between Bearded Man and I ended up being what gave our plant a name. It is a living thing anyway, why not give it name if we're taking care of another living thing? So Lulu it is. Lulu the Orchid.
